Overview

The Brief:

 

The Group Strategy Director provides business and consumer insight through strong collaboration with both internal and external team memebers. Their role is imperative in building trust and influencing our clients to unchartered territories.

Responsibilities

  • Seek out and gains knowledge of consumer preferences and relationships to ensure that the voice of the customer is integrated into communication strategy
  • Navigate complexity, providing strategic clarity and leadership to both the client and team
  • Perform with primary and secondary research that will aid in the consumer insight gathering and strategic planning process
  • Lead point of contact for a core or substantial piece of business or businesses
  • Establish and maintain substantial and influential relationships with client senior management
  • Be the “honest broker,” engendering respect in order to persuade clients to operate outside conventional wisdom and comfort zone
  • Interpret and monitor cultural and social trends relevant to client business and competitive landscape
  • Expert in practice of planning and global toolbox, specifically eXploring and cultural mapping
  • Positively impact the creative product through sharp insights, inspiration and accessing cultural tension
  • Build upon the digital competencies and social capabilities within the clients business
  • Establishing indispensability among clients by being the clients best partner
  • Manage career development of team while enhancing their overall skill set; bring in new talent
  • Act as Y&R Ambassador to external candidates for future opportunities
  • Fostering potential by encouraging a more entrepreneurial environment, mentoring and mediating
  • Be prepared for other tasks as you may be assigned

 

Qualifications

We’d love if it you:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in related field. Advanced degree a plus
  • Have 10-15 years related experience with at least 5 years of managerial experience
  • Have a deep knowledge of relevant product categories and strategic insights into consumer behavior
  • Have outstanding verbal and written communications skills
  • Are able to present ideas clearly and concisely
  • Have strong knowledge of primary and secondary research methodology, both qualitative and quantitative
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of marketing practices and brand theory
  • Demonstrate risk-taking, appetite for change, desire to lead and shape people and their thinking
  • Thorough understanding of interagency workings
  • Excellent organization, time and self-management skills
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent follow through skills
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to work under pressure
