We're looking for a developer and statistical problem-solver to join our team!


The BAV Social Developer thinks creatively about data, knowing how to clean, read, and scale data intuitively based on the specific context of our clients’ needs. The Developer / Statistical Data Analyst will report directly to the Director of Social Analytics and Insights, supporting development of  Y&R’s proprietary social equity model by linking online data (e.g. paid, earned, owned social channels; news, blogs, forums; engagement; search terms; etc.) to Y&R’s brand model and database BAV®.


Our ideal candidate is someone who is thrilled at the prospect of working on a living statistical model. He or she is someone who knows how to conceptualize and solve problems, can think on his or her feet, and is self-directed, intellectually curious, and isn’t afraid to think outside the box.


  • Create regression models from brand perception data against social metrics to determine significant relationships between BAV® brand data and online data.
  • Apply Extreme Gradient Boosting methods in R to calculate component weights for the BAVSocial algorithms
  • Scale data and tweak proprietary algorithms based on storytelling and strategic inputs
  • Data Collection: Construct Extraction-Transform-Loading (ETL) processes that automatically connect third party social platforms’ APIs, download social data and perform numerous data preparation tasks such as cleaning, standardization and storage.
  • Data preparation: Gather, clean and calculate derived data (category averages, indices and percentages, etc.), from third party social platforms (APIs) for Y&R’s proprietary algorithms
  • Data Governance: Ensure the quality, consistency and integrity of BAVSocial’s database
  • Research and develop automation tools for daily operations of the social analytics practice, including writing VBA macros and R scripts to automate different Excel and PowerPoint tasks
  • Assist the Director in finding solutions for operational and modelling problems



  • 2-4 years of experience in statistical analysis or data science, preferably with 1 year at an agency.
  • Expertise in R, VBA, and Python. Ability to work with APIs is a must.
  • Expertise in statistical analyses such as Extreme Gradient Boosting, Extraction Tranformation Loading, Multiple Regressions, and scaling methodologies like Binning and Log Transformations.
  • Familiarity with machine learning is a plus.
